Nick Hammons got the win last night as the starting pitcher for the EvCC Trojans agains the Pierce College Raiders in a non-league game at Everett Memorial Stadium.  Going into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Trojans were trailing the Raiders by one run, 1-2.  From there it was all about the Trojans! In the next 4 innings they would score 11 runs to the Raiders 2, to win the game 12-4. 

It was also sophomore night for the Trojans as they thanked the 10 sophomores that have contributed 2 years of hard work and dedication to the program.  During the 7th inning stretch, all 10 sophomores were announced and given the recognition they deserved. They are: Nick Hammons, Kyle McGregor, Matt McCorkle, Joey Petosa, David Benson, Arlo Evascik, Mike Malland, Chance Hargrove, Cody Atkinson and Curt Nelson.  All ten sophomores played at some point in the game – some started (Hammons, McGregor, Hargrove, Atkinson, Nelson, McCorkle, Malland) while others came in part way through the game (pitcher Benson played 2nd and batted; pitcher Evasick batted; Petosa infield and batted).  

In the bottom of the 8th inning, the Raiders coach questioned a call by the home umpire and was quickly ejected from the game from said umpire. Someitmes, when a coach is ejected, it lights a fire under his/her team and they step up and fight back, unfortunately for this coach his team didn’t do that.  The was no way they were going to come back and beat the Trojans who were on fire and having a fun time. 

We would like to thank the 10 sophomores for all they have done for the program and we wish them all Good Luck in all they may do in the future. 

Don’t miss the Northern Region playoff tournament that will be held May 15-17th at Skagit Valley College (see website for complete bracket information).  The Trojans look to win the tournament to take a spot at the NWAACC Championship Tournament at Lower Columbia College in Longview, WA over the weekend of May 21-25.  Good luck to the team and coaches as they prepare for both of these tournaments!
