Quite a bit has happened since the last update. So here’s the recap - sorry it is a little long!!

Volleyball
The Trojans traveled to play the Chokers of Grays Harbor College on the 10th in Aberdeen, WA. Having already played the Chokers at home and won, the Trojans were looking to pick up another win. After a very long drive the Trojans had a good warm-up and came out strong to start the game. They won the first two games 25-22; 25-21, however it seemed the third game they lost some intensity and only won the game by 2 points - 27-25. The following Monday, 9/15, they traveled to Pierce College in Lakewood, WA to play the Raiders. This was a different team that showed to play, they didn’t play well at all. What made it even worse was the fact that Setter Korissa Clevish dove for a ball in the 2nd game and gave herself whiplash so bad that she gave herself a concussion and had to sit out for part of the third game - she is all healed now. The Trojans walked away from Pierce losing 15-25; 13-25; & 10-25. On Tuesday, the Trojans hosted the Trailblazers of Centralia College. The team knew what had to be done and started out strong but lost the first game 19-25. This seemed to light a fire under them and they were determined to take the next three games, and they did - 25-21, 25-19 & 25-20. Thursday morning saw the team going to Ontario, OR to play the Chukars of Treasure Valley CC on 9/18, and to participate in the Treasure Valley CC Crossover Tournament on 9/19 & 9/20. In Thursdays game vs TVCC, the Trojans let the crowd, more particularly the TVCC baseball players take them out of their game by the inappropriate remarks they were making. Taking a three game loss with scores of 10-25; 14-25; & 20-25. Friday afternoon, the Trojans had 2 matches; first with Clackamas CC at 3pm and the second with Tacoma CC at 7pm. Going almost point for point with Clackamas in the first game and only losing 24-26, it looked like the Trojans were there to play, however the next two games didn’t reflect that, they lost 13-25 & 19-25. With some time in between games, the Trojans relaxed some and watched their next opponent play. When it came their time to play TCC, the team was pumped up. Only it didn’t last, TCC got a small run in the first game and the Trojans didn’t step up to the challenge losing all three games, 16-25; 8-25; & 20-25. The next morning the Trojans - Grays Harbor College (again) at 9am; Treasure Valley CC at 1pm; and Big Bend CC at 3pm. Starting out with GHC, the Trojans looked like the team they have the potential to be. Winning the match 25-21; 25-22 & 25-18. With that win under their belt they felt good going into the game with TVCC. They played well, but were outplayed losing 20-25; 18-25; & 17-25. Going into the game with Big Bend CC, they started out really slow. losing 9-25. They did come back the second game and won 25-20 only to lose the third 14-25. In the fourth game, the line-up was changed up and they played extremely well only losing by 3 points - 22-25. On Wednesday, 9/24 league started with a trip down to Lynnwood to play the Edmonds CC Tritons. Not really sure what happened, but the Trojans didn’t give them a game to play, losing 10-25; 7-25; 7-25. Friday they traveled to Shoreline CC to play the Dolphins in what could have been a good match, however it seemed like the team over-thought everything that was going on and lost 14-25; 15-25 & 17-25. All of these games bring the Trojans overall record to 4-8 with a league record of 0-2. The next games are Wednesday 10/1 vs Olympic and Friday 10/3 vs Whatcom CC. Games are at 7pm and admission is free to EvCC Students w/EvCC ID, staff & Faculty.

Women’s Soccer
Unfortunately, there have been some injuries that have not helped the Women’s Team be as competitive as they could be. On 9/9 they hosted Bellevue CC and after a hard 90 minutes, the Trojans lost 0-4. On 9/11, Shoreline CC traveled to Everett after some quick scoring on the Dolphins part, the Trojans couldn’t bounce back losing 0-3. On 9/13, the Trojans traveled to Longview, WA to play the Red Devils of Lower Columbia College. In a hard fought game, the Trojans scored, just not enough to win, losing 2-6. The Trojans then traveled to play first year team the Orcas of Whatcom CC in Bellingham, WA. The Orcas came out to win pushing the Trojans to play a very aggressive game which they lost 0-5. The Cardinals of Skagit Valley College came down on 9/18 to play the Trojans. The team played well and together but the Cardinals pushed a little harder beating the Trojans 1-4. Two days later on the 20th, the Trojans crossed the sound to play at Olympic College in Bremerton, WA. All of the goals were scored in the first half and unfortunately for the Trojans it wasn’t in their favor, losing 1-4. This past Saturday, 9/27, the Green River CC Gators came to town. Once again, both goals were scored in the first half, which meant that there was a lot of defense going on in the second half. This time the outcome was the same but only with a score of 0-2. This brings the overall record to 1-9-1 and league record to 1-7-1 (win-loss-tie)

Men’s Soccer
The Men’s team have had many close games recently. First on the 9th, they like the women hosted the Bulldogs of Bellevue CC. The outcome of this game was the Trojans 0 Bulldogs 3. In the game on the 11th with Shoreline CC, the Trojans showed some great offense however at the end of the game they were still down one goal to the Dolphins 2-3. They traveled to Port Angeles, WA to play the Pirates of Peninsula College on 9/13. At the end of the 90 minute game, the score was tied 2-2. In regular season play there is no overtime nor shoot-outs so the 2-2 was the final outcome of the game. On the 16th, the Trojans went up to Bellingham to play the defending NWAACC 2007 champions - Whatcom CC. Like the champions they were from last year, the Orcas dominated the whole game. The ending score was 0-3 in favor of Whatcom. On 9/18, the Trojans hosted Skagit Valley College and played good defense and offense. They won 2-1 over the Cardinals. On the 20th, they traveled with the women’s team to Bremerton to face the Rangers of Olympic College. Even with the long bus ride and ferry ride, the Trojans showed the Rangers that they were the better team, winning 2-1. These games take the overall an league record for the men to 3-4-1 (win-loss-tie).
