Sunday May 11th, the Trojan Baseball Team knew something very important…. all they had to do was win one game of the double header against Edmonds CC at Edmonds CC to take 1st place in the Northern Region.  They knew going into the 4 game series with Edmonds CC that they would have to win at least 3 of the 4 to be the 1st place team and earn an automatic spot in the 2008 NWAACC Baseball Championship Tournament, which will be held at David Story Field on the Lower Columbia College Campus in Longview, WA, May 22nd - 26th.  They won 2 games on Thurday, May 8th at Everett Memorial Stadium.  Walking onto the field in Lynnwood, WA there was pressure on the Trojans, but nothing that wasn’t achieveable.

The first game was close however Edmonds pulled it out an won 5-2.  This loss put the pressure solely on the Trojans. They knew that no matter what they had to win the next game to be #1.  After about a 30 minute break, the second game started.  The Trojans started off strong, scoring 2 runs in the first inning.  The Tritons however, came back in the second inning and scored 7 runs.  That wouldn’t be the end of the Tritons scoring… they would finish the game with 12 runs.  On the other end, the Trojans would score 4 more to finsih with 6.  This second loss to the Tritons would end the 1st place run and leave the Trojans in 2nd place.

With the second place finish, the Trojans now must play the third place team, Skagit Valley College in a 2 out of 3 game playoff series.  The winner of this series will advance to the NWAACC Championship Tournament as the second seed for the North.  The Cardinals will travel to Everett on Friday may 16th to play two games with the first game starting at 11am. The second game will start approximately 30 mintues after the conclusion of the first game.  If the third game is needed, it will be played at Skagit Valley College in Mt. Vernon, WA on Saturday evening with a start time of 5pm.

During regular league play, the Trojans and Cardinals split the 4 game series 2-2.  So these three games should be a good series to watch.  Let’s Go TROJANS!!!!
