When Hailey Harris contacted Volleyball Head Coach Sue Snow before the 2006 season all she wanted to do was find a program that wanted her to play for them.  Coach Snow took that chance on her, signing her to play for the Trojans.

Coming from Shoshone, ID a small town south of Boise,  Hailey wasn’t sure how she was going to survive; one - in a big city and two - being 10+ hours away from mom and dad.  All she knew was that she was going to further her education and still get to play a sport she loved.

At the beginning of her sophomore year at EvCC, Hailey made it clear that she wanted to play volleyball at the next level.  She wasn’t sure where she was going to be able to go or who would want her for their program but she knew that she wanted to play somewhere.  She was looking at a couple of places in Idaho and Montana, which happened to be much closer to home, but hadn’t heard anything really positive from their volleyball programs.  Then at the Men’s Basketball game at Olympic College in Bremerton, she was introduced to Clay Blackwood the Head Volleyball Coach at Evergreen State College by her Trojan coach Sue Snow.  Clay invited her to contact him about his open tryouts that he was going to be having to see if she would be a good addition to his team.

After attending one of the tryouts, Hailey was hesitant of whether Coach Blackwood would want her for his team.  He said he would be in touch.  Well, for someone that had been told that before with bad results that wasn’t the most positive of statements to hear.  However, this time it was positive, as when he did contact Hailey, he offered her a scholarship to attend Evergreen State and play volleyball for him in the fall of 2008.  Coach Blackwood had this to say about Hailey - “I watched Hailey play against my former team and I was always impressed with her… she will give us a solid defensive presence as a setter or libero”.  After confering with her parents and enrollment services, Hailey decided to go for it and signed her Letter of Intent to Evergreen State College on April 1, 2008.  She is officially now a Goeduck!

Congratulations Hailey! We wish you the best of luck. We know that you will do a great job there!
