Men – 4 in a row!!
Looking for not only their 4th win in a row but also in league the Men’s game started at 7:30pm. Watching the Orca warm-up, many said that it was going to be a tough game for the Trojans. However if you have seen any of the Men’s games, you would know that we are a second half team. I don’t know what the coaches say during half time, but whatever it is it seems to work because the Trojans come out strong afterwards. Saturday night was no exception. The Orcas led the majority of the first half, however leading by no more than 9 points at any given time. With 5 minutes to go, the Trojans were down by 9 but with two 3 pointers in a row followed by an easy 2 pointer the lead was now down to 1. Unfortunately we foul and put them on the free throw line where they make both and take the lead back to 3. With two more 3 pointers we take the lead by 3, with about 2 minutes left. They make a 2 pointer and two free throws to go a head by one, we counter with a 2 pointer to take the 1 point lead into half time. In the second half, the Trojans take over, scoring 64.3% of their shots, 50% of their 3 pointers and 85.7% of their free throws while holding the Orcas to 45.5% of their shots, 33.3% of 3 pointers and 58.8% of their free throws. Even with sending the Orcas to the free throw line 41 times, the Trojans still out shot them overall for the game (EvCC – 55.0% total shots, 52.0% of 3′s and 83.3% of free throws; WCC – 43.6% of total shots, 33.3% of 3′s and 75.6% of free throws). Shooting one of their best games this year, the Trojans win the game by 10 points, 94-84. This win takes their win streak to 4, their overall record to 9-8 and their league record to 4-3. This also puts them into 4th place in the Northern Region.
