Another Win for the Women’s Hoops Team
Last night, the Trojans traveled to Lynnwood to play the Edmonds CC Tritons in league play.
Before the start of the game, Coach Chet Hovde made the girls a deal…. He would not sit down during the game at all, except time outs, until they were ahead at least by double digits… The girls looked upon this as an inspirational thing. The first half had both teams had a hard time pulling away from the other. There were only 7 total fouls in the first half, which in itself is quite an achievement. With the Trojans only being ahead by 6 going into half time, true to his word, Coach Hovde stood the entire 1st half, moving up and down the bench as the game progressed. Coming out after half time, the Trojans decided enough was enough. They held the Tritons to only 14 points, while they scored 38 and forced 40 Triton turnovers. Coach Hovde was able to sit down during the 2nd half, however it didn’t last long due to the amazing play by his team. The Trojans won hands down… 70-40! This takes them to 16-3 overall and 5-1 in league. They are now in a three way tie for 1st place in the Northern Region with Bellevue (we lost) & Whatcom (we play this Saturday).
Game highs:
Kristina Schumacher – 19 points; Kristin Moore – 11 points, 8 assists; Britni Rathke – 10 points, 7 steals; Oliana Seanoa – 10 points; Rachael Boehme – 6 points, 13 rebounds, 5 steals.
