Men’s Hoops struggle at crossover
The Trojan Men’s Basketball team traveled to Oregon City, OR to participate in the NWAACC Crossover Tournament the was held at Clackamas Community College. Unfortunately it was a two-an-out for the Trojans.
Game 1 had the Trojans playing the 4th game of the day against the host team Clackamas CC. With a slow start the first half and only scoring 32 points they allowed the Cougars to score 58. The Trojans did step it up the second half scoring 60 points, however, it wasn’t enough to beat the Cougars. They lost 92-116. Game highs were Louis Hurd 25 points; David Griffiths 16 points; Inderbir Gill 14 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists; Jake Moore 10 points, 8 assists; Michael Knight 9 points, 9 rebounds.
In Game 2 the Trojans met the Walla Walla CC Warriors in a loser out game. It didn’t look good in the first half with the Trojans scoring only 30 points yet holding the Warriors to 42. In the second half the Trojans again stepped up their game scoring 55 points with a game tying lay-up by Sophomore Jake Moore at the buzzer. At first one of the officials said that the basket was no good meaning the game was over with EvCC losing 83-85, however after the three officials talked, they determined that the basket counted thus creating an OT (overtime). In the five minute overtime, it went back and forth between the two teams with each scoring only 11 points sending the game into a second OT. In the next five minute overtime, the Trojans were outscored 4-10, thus losing the game 100-106. Game highs were: Jake Moore 39 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists; Inderbir Gill 16 points, 5 rebounds; Louis Hurd 16 points; David Griffiths 12 points; Michael Knight 10 rebounds; David Gallaher 7 points, 7 rebounds. Regardless of the outcome, it was a great game and very fun to watch.
